Are ya’ll ready for Miss Lily’s 1 year photo shoot? It’s been quite the year documenting this little one. We started with a fun maternity session with Didi and Andrew, then a few weeks later Lily made her debut. At 6 months, we had a little fun in the studio. Lily was a real ham for her big 1 year session! Walking, smashing cake, looking for dogs…she was ready for anything! 

Happy birthday Lily! It’s been a real honor to photograph your first year and I’m excited to keep watching you grow!

As the weather warms, that means it’s time for Senior Portraits! I had such a wonderful time exploring downtown Birmingham with Ellen.

This little bit has been gracing the blog since she was 1 month old, so it’s so wonderful to welcome her back to celebrate her turning 2! I think we walked the entire Samford University campus, following MK’s navigation as fast as her legs would allow. As I looked through her shoot, I was really struck by the black and white images for some reason. Some of the in between moments make for the best portraits.

Hazel June is here! This gorgeous little one was wonderful to photograph! Of course, I have a soft spot in my heart for this one because her mama and I are cousins. You’ll want to take a look back at Heather and Emery’s maternity session for a refresher in how cute they are!

Let me introduce you loyal readers to my gorgeous cousin, Heather. She is due any day with her first born, Hazel June. I’m so happy and honored to be able to document such a special time in her and Emery’s life.

A little family back story: Not long after Emery and Heather got married, Kent and I wagered with them a small bet on who would have a baby last. Years went on, our other cousins were having children, but us 4 were hanging on to our dog only households. Lo and behold, Kent and I were the ones that “caved” first. Not long before Walt was born, Heather announced her pregnancy! Now, Walt & Hazel will be 5 months apart and we can’t wait to see them play together as they grow.

Congratulations to Heather, Emery, and “big brother” Dakota! Stay tuned, soon you’ll see Hazel debut on the blog!

Last summer, I spent an afternoon with the oldest Platt children: Caleb, Joshua, and Mara Ruth. What you couldn’t see behind the scenes was that their mama was pregnant with their brother, Isaiah. I spent an eventful morning with the children at home; we celebrated Isaiah with a few portraits, mama lead their daily devotion, the boys played with legos, and Mara Ruth was all about her bee antennas and iPad game.

I absolutely love in home shoots. It’s such a unique way to look back as a parent (or child), at what life looked like with little ones running around your home. Eating breakfast, playing dress up, brushing tiny teeth; all such sweet glimpses into what life really looks like. Alright, let’s peek inside what mornings looks like for the Platt 4!

One of the sweetest benefits of photographing baby’s first year is watching them grow before my eyes. From their mama’s belly and sleeping soundly at only days old, to being able to sit, crawl, and then walk; those important milestones deserve to be documented in a way that won’t be forgotten.
